Open Positions

Responsibilities

The candidate would join our international product team working on a Vancouver-based pilot training web application. The product, in which we need to fix legacy issues, is a .NET-based legacy. The mid-term (next 6-12 months) plan is to implement new features for the system in a modern web stack (most probably Angular & Node.js but it is not decided yet).Along the new development we will still support the original platform, so .NET knowledge will be essential. A desirable candidate would have experience in .NET and a modern web stack as well. A few days a week, the successful candidate would need to overlap with the Vancouver schedule, which means some meetings could be outside of the regular office hours (not after 8 pm). In the first few months the position would require more flexibility from the candidate to support the ramp-up process.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in some of the below mentioned stack:
    • ASP.NET
    • .NET Core
    • Entity Framework
    • WCF

Responsibilites

  • Design, architect and analyze solutions to deliver CAE’s visual system based on Unreal Engine
  • Work closely with artists, animators, and content designers to design and develop the next generation system
  • Optimize game engine performance for real time operation while maximizing high fidelity realism

Requirements

  • Full-time/part-time/contractor/consultant positions are available
  • BS or MS Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience with Unreal Engine
  • Excellent C++ skills, with a familiarity of scripting systems like Blueprint, Lua, Python, etc.
  • Experience designing an architecture for large open world terrain with Unreal Engine
  • Experience with networking and multiplayer programming
  • Good knowledge of the Unreal Engine code base
  • Advanced understanding of modern game technology rendering and modelling principles
  • Understanding of Unreal Engine antialiasing and real-time performance programming techniques
  • Well-versed in software engineering principles

Responsibilities

  • Participating in the development of an AR (Augmented Reality) software intended to be used on Microsoft Hololens
  • Supporting the team with the design, development and update of various components of the software
  • Occasional travel to product demonstrations and integration abroad

Requirements

  • At least 3 year experience with native and/or managed software development on Windows and related Microsoft technologies, in particular:
    • Native development with conventional (Win32, COM) and modern (UWP, C++/WinRT) APIs
    • Managed development with C# and TypeScript (ASP.NET Core + Angular 6+)
  • At least 1 year experience with computer graphics with one modern graphics API (e.g. Direct3D 11/12, Vulkan, or a recent version of OpenGL)
    • Direct3D knowledge is preferred, including interoperation with Direct2D and related video capture and imaging APIs
  • Strong command of modern C++ (17+) and C#
  • Experience with networking and good multi-threading patterns
  • Eagerness to write efficient code and experience with performance optimization
  • Ability to investigate complex problems and devise advanced solutions

Your Mission

  • As a member of the Data Science team, you will analyze and synthesize information to understand issues, identify options, and support sound decision-making. You will be generating viable, new approaches and solutions. You have an understanding of applying functional and technical knowledge and skills to accomplish work objectives in an agile environment. As the ideal candidate, you are adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.

We are looking for people who can

  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
  • Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
  • Develop company A/B testing framework and test model quality.
  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, or SQL)
  • Master or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics or a related field
  • Experience with machine learning techniques (Random Forests, Gradient boosting, artificial neural networks, etc.)
  • Experience with advanced statistical techniques and concepts (GLM/Regression, Time Series, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.)
  • Must be able to communicate technical concepts effectively to all levels of the organization

  • Possess at least 5 years experience in Data Science or applied statistics.
  • Strong problem solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models.
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (Random Forests, Gradient boosting, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (GLM/Regression, Time Series, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  • Experience using web services: Azure, Spark, Databricks, etc.

The specific mix of tasks would depend on your qualifications, interests and disposition. We'd like to add a new face to our small server/network ops Team, to better distribute the load.

In their new role, the new colleague would:

  • Execute strategic projects (like "modernize infrastructure monitoring" or "develop and implement unified management concept for Linux workstations") with great autonomy;
  • work mostly with free/libre open source software;
  • support day to day operations of the mostly Linux based server infrastructure as needed;
  • be involved in hands-on work as well as design and architecture.

The ideal candidate can tick off many items from the following list:

  • speaks excellent Hungarian (C1+);
  • has citizenship only in countries that are members of both the EU and NATO (this is a strict requirement);
  • has no criminal record (this is a strict requirement);
  • speaks good English (B2+) (this is a strict requirement);
  • speaks useful German and/or French (B1+);
  • has 5+ years of operations experience with at least some of the stuff we use: Linux, Proxmox VE, Ceph, Active Directory, Ansible, Splunk, Zabbix, FortiGate;
  • has good time management skills;
  • can write code in at least one script language (Python is best);
  • can read code written in at least one of C, Java, C#, JavaScript, PHP, Perl, PowerShell, C++ or bash;
  • has participated in an open source project, even if just by submitting high quality bug reports;
  • has worked at a company with 100+ employees before;
  • has had some exposure to a security standard like ISO27001, CMMC or the BSI Grundschutz;
  • can document their work well and likes doing so;
  • has a solid understanding of TCP/IP and Ethernet networks;
  • likes working with the command line;
  • would like to work between 4 and 8 hours a day on average;
  • is social and agile in an enterprise environment;
  • has at least a BSc in a technical field.

Most of these are not strict requirements and negotiable.
